More thumbs up...

...to the Hu Nan Chinese restaurant on Main and Marine with the LCBO banner above their building. They sell wines and spirits! From the Liquor Control Board of Ontario!! Hmm, can we say, someone stole that??

Ha ha ha.

"You look like the back of your head"

Was introduced to a British sitcom that has been on KCTS at 11:30 on Sunday nights. It has the same dynamic as Friends, but more sexually charged. Frikkin' hilarious if you ask me. Plus they have British accents so even if it's not that funny, it's still pretty funny. So thumbs up to British sitcoms, and Niko who introduced me to them.

Thumbs down to my brake pads, which need replacing. Freeeeeeeeeee... wanna do me a favour?? Heheh. Oh yeah, got a call from Citibank for Fri regarding "new services." Politely turned them away for you, yer welcome :0)

Thumbs down to Musictoday for their mishandling of my Coldplay tickets; as well as Nettwerk Management who has not returned my e-mail. Thumbs up to Yuri who's looking into a Hospitality Suite. I didn't know A&W had them. Also thumbs up to his public speaking engagement at Southridge School which I would have paid good money to see. (Although not as much as Coldplay tickets - hee hee.)

Thumbs down to the lack of hotel rooms available in Whistler in March. Thumbs up to thinking we are being 'sneaky.'

Thumbs up to rice paper on wedding invitations. Thumbs down to figuring out logistics of having handmade invitations mass-produced. Junko!!!

Thumbs down to the lack of pictures on this site. Sorry Blaine. ;0)

Thumbs to you too =0P

Plaid is back, baby, what are you talking about? I have been looking for my old high school kilt, but can't seem to find it. I can't remember if I actually burned it or not. I do remember keeping the pin, though... must... check... drawers of crap...

I had stomach pains on a delayed basis, I don't think it was from the Burger Heaven, I think it was from the hotwings and curry vindaloo on Saturday night. I know, bad combination, I suppose I was asking for it. Daredevil was alright... as far as comic book movies go... I still liked X-Men better; and the first two Batmans. But in general I don't do comics, right?

Fri comes back in three days! Or less! I am so behind on the cleaning it's not even funny! Not to mention my brother has moved back home for a month and a half... oh GOD... this is going to be an interesting couple of weeks... Speaking of Fri, as per our discussion today, we should start making that list of code words for our own distribution... except not publish it online, because then everyone would know what they mean when we say that the Cheese on Six has no Flour because he made me a Salmon Dinner when I borrowed the Blue Sweater.

Huh? What? Exactly.

Pictures are coming soon. Still hemming and hawing about it!

Comment vous-dites "cookies" en francais?

...not like it matters... but since you are asking, Lena... I haven't done anything to deserve cookies, but I will play this whole baked good analogy to full hilt if it keeps you guessing. Muahaha to you too.

Anyway, all y'all who aren't quite in the loop... nothing new to report... just random thoughts while I am at work. Gee, you'd think having a desk job would afford me time to post stuff... but nooooooo, I have work to do!

Arrgh. Goin' shopping this weekend... perhaps for plaid.

Toodles!

Carrier Pigeons

What ever happened to them? Really? Are they truly extinct? Or can one train your regular street pigeon to do your bidding? Thanks for the Happy Valentine's wishes, Fri. I didn't get any chocolate, I got strawberries and whipped cream... but I'm sure I can save a cookie for you before you arrive. Heheh.

Bollywood Drinking Game

Nafeesa's Big Fat Samosa Party was a success! Nevermind the fact that no one actually learned how to make samosas, as Naf's mom was a little overzealous and ended up cooking all of them... but still. Good food had by all, not to mention the Bollywood movie that was so anticipated.

The movie we watched was in Hindi, and about four hours long. Not including the 45 minute intermission in which we were treated to assorted fruit and homemade ice cream. Anyway, the movie... can't remember the title but basically it was a love triangle (aren't they all?) complete with musical numbers and dancing in the rain, racial stereotypes, and cheesy product shots. Not to mention the hair flipping/tossing... anyway, I had a brilliant idea afterwards to turn watching a Bollywood movie into a drinking game. This would require having to pay attention to the movie, and at four hours long I would see how this may tire one out. So, every time it rains, there's a hair flip/toss, tears, dance number, cheesy product placement shot, everyone has to have a shot of something. Doubles occur when there's a hair flip/toss in the rain, a duet, or any time there is any peaking behind trees. (Unfortunately this particular movie didn't have the peaking... but they were magically whisked off to the moors of England at one point...). Triple shots are necessary when the dance sequence includes a 'screwing-in-the-lightbulb' shot.

That ought to get one right good and drunk. Unfortunately this would not be allowed at Naf's house... but I'm sure the AUS'ers will come up with something...

...and all that jazz...

Caught Chicago the other night... very good. I thought it was much more engaging than the Broadway version - more colour... although it left some things out (I mainly noticed the Mary Sunshine bit - or um... lack thereof), I thought they did a pretty good job of it... I read a review of the movie on MyBC which basically said, yeah it was pretty good, but not as good as the originals, and that Bob Fosse should have directed it and blah blah blah. Honestly I don't think it would have been as successful if he had - sort of a ruin-your-own-success kind of thing.

I read later today that Spike Lee has reportedly been interested in directing the movie version of RENT... that would be highly interesting!!! Considering there's a joke about him in the musical...(Mimi: We could light the candle/Oh what'd you do with my candle? Roger: That was my last match Mimi: Our eyes'll adjust/Thank God for the moon Roger: Maybe it's not the moon at all/I hear Spike Lee's shootin' down the street Mimi: Bah humbug!)

Anyway that's enough RENT-geek for one week.

Concerts & Craftiness

Michelle bought tickets for the Sam Roberts concert at the Commodore on Feb. 10. I was pretty surprised - Michelle likes Sam Roberts? But that is so cool! So she and Courtney and I are going. Fun! Then on Thursday Feb. 13 Anglophiles Anonymous is heading down to Seattle to catch David Gray. Yet more fun. I have put in all of the David Gray CDs I own in my car so I am primed and ready to sing along at the concert... and and and I get to bring my new digital camera!! Hee hee hee hee.

Michelle is going to be on the Variety Club Telethon... a walk-on part as The Good Witch from the Wizard of Oz. Too cute. =0) Stay tuned!

Sometime this week I am heading to the craft store. I had a brainstorm at lunch today. I am going to need some glue and felt. Maybe some rhinestones.

New Members

I have added Tanya and Michelle to 'My Team' of bloggers on this site... and await their debut. So far Tanya has joined and Michelle has yet to respond to her invite.

I got a digital camera!!!

It's small, and very cute, and very powerful... it's a Canon S230 Digital Elph. I had a hell of a time trying to figure it out. Not such a great time haggling over the price although I did manage to get the guys to knock it down about $50... still ended up being pretty expensive after purchasing the Genuine Leather case, the Extended Warranty, and having to pay The Taxes. It cost more than our dryer which we bought in January. I haven't gone crazy taking pictures yet, I have to work on getting a larger memory card first. But still! I am looking for free webspace to post my pictures... and will add a link to that soon... when I do that... instead of paying Blog*spot to post them. Muahahaha.

Other news

JOE AND TRACY BOUGHT A HOUSE!!! ...In White Rock... (South Surrey.. heheh)... Congratulations to them - now they have room for their cats and dog and accumulated furniture. And wedding presents.

Five hundred twenty-five thousand six hundred minutes

I have recently received flak for having seen RENT five times. For which I will not apologize!! Not many people can say they have seen it that many times in almost as many cities!! (Toronto, Vancouver, London, New York City, Vancouver). I do not think I will see it again because it's lost the magic I found it had when I first saw it... but I do enjoy listening to it on CD once in a while... like yesterday. I had to expel the lyrics from my head by listening to the whole thing. And really... they are very good lyrics! Good message. Although getting dated with the whole 90's reference stuff.

But at least I can tell you without skipping a beat how many minutes are in a year...
